I woke up in a somewhat dejected mood. It was the morning of the FA Cup final after all.
I should have been waking up in my hotel at the Holiday Inn near Wembley but as you all know the prize I won failed to appear. Instead I got satisfactory compensation.
I still would have preferred the experience, though.
It would have been great to be able to tell generations to come how I was there for the first FA Cup in the 'New' Wembley Stadium.
My father would have enjoyed it, too. I think he was more let down than me.
I've spent a lot of space on this blog for well over a year in my ambition to have won those tickets and today will be the final time you hear about this.
I went out and achieved what I set my goal on. It wasn't my fault that things blew up in my face. You can't make up for the loss of the potential experience I would have received had I gone to the match today but the compensation was the price I valued it all at so I didn't end up the biggest loser in the whole situation.
The story is over.
Let's hope the next chapter is better.
