I am often asked why I call myself equinoxx (or equinoxxx depending on who's asking). The majority of people think it is in relation to Jean Michel Jarre or to a love of the moon and stars.
To all those who thought that it had anything to do with astrology or music then the answer is 'no.' In fact - I don't really have a specific answer why I chose this name.
It has been a nickname for a long time, though. The first time I ever used it was in the summer of 1999 when I joined a trivia game on the World Wrestling Federations website. I spent most of my time while at university in the chat section of this site answering wrestling related questions. It wasn't long before my name was listed in the top ten and it stayed there for a number of years.
I remember wanting to find a name that was different to the other users. They all seemed to have numbers after their names. I wanted something different that would stand out so I added an extra 'x' to equinox and the name stuck.
When I started branching out to other chat programs I kept the 'equinoxx' name but changed it around to include an extra 'x' or call myself 'the'_equinoxx' or 'mister_equinoxxx'.
Then - when I started playing poker - I wanted to bring the nickname with me to the poker sites so when I registered I used that name there, too. In hindsight I should really have changed my name across the many sites so as to disguise myself from people who may recgnise me form another server.
So - there is no rhyme or reason to why I chose this as my username. It just sounded cool at the time. It still does.
It's a hell of a lot better sounding than anklespanker756 or TeeGee73!
