I watched Wrestlemania VIII in the early hours of this morning. It still remains my favourite Wrestlemania.
It's fifteen years since the event took place on April 5th 1992 in the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The reason why it holds a strong place in my heart is because it was the first time I was completely enthralled in the whole build-up to the event. I had been a fan of the WWF for years before this show but the angles in the lead up to the showcase were something special. Even The Sun newspaper was running adverts on television saying they would have the results.
I stayed up to press record on the video recorder on that Spring night. I ended uo watching the first hour before getting enough sleep to wake up early to catch the rest of the show and make it to school in time.
The main event featuring Hulk Hogan against Sid Justce had the notion that this was going to be Hulk Hogan's retirement match as he was taking time away from the ring.
Being one of Hulk Hoan's biggest fans back then I was sad to see him go but was thrilled to see the Ultimate Warrior return at the close of the show in the aid of the retiring star.
As we all know - Hogan returned a year later and has still been around the business. I fell for the angle hook, line and sinker!
