Six Today

Time is flying by. Josh is six today!

He phoned us today to thank us or the present we bought him and was excited that he had rang the number on his own because he was now old enough to do so.

Watching him doing things for the first time has been on of the things I enjoyed the most about him growing up. Just the other day I did something to him that put a smile on both our faces.

I took him to the shop on his mountain bike as he wanted to buy some sweets. I didn't want to leave him and the bike outside while I bought the goods so I told him to go in and buy whatever he wanted while I waited outside for him.

He looked at me with with his 'you can't fool me' face and said, 'You're kidding me, right?'

I told him I wasn't so handed him over a pound and watched him walk in. A few moments later he came back out telling me they didn't have what he wanted so I told him to pick something else instead.

You should have seen him in that queue. He was looking out at me with this huge smile on his face and giving me the thumbs up while he held up a Twirl chocolate bar with the other. He was dancing while he was waiting to pay. You could tell he was thrilled to be given the chance to make his own decision and freedom.

This house is quieter now that he no longer lives here. I never thought I would say this but I miss the noise and the sly way he would walk into my bedroom in the mornings and blow in my face or tap my head and then run out and wait until he hears me stirring and then casually walk in and say 'Good morning, David!'
