Lita

Amy Dumas, better known as Lita, announced on last week's Raw that her match at the Survivor Series would be her retirement from professional wrestling.

This past Sunday at the event she lost the WWE Womens Championship to Mickie James in her swansong bout and was then publicly humiliated by the tag team of Cryme Tyme.

It was the WWE's way of giving her a send-off. She was the baddie or heel, after all.

I stumbled across her My Space page last night where she claimed she was upset at how the company treated her on her way out.

In pro wrestling there is a tradition where the person leaving must lose on their way out. Amy Dumas did that. The lame segment featuring Lita's vibrator and worn knickers being sold to ringside fans by the tag team was out of order and was not something I anticipated spending £15 to see.

But she had a send-off. A lot of other performers are swept under the carpet the moment they pass the torch to the next person.

I was never a fan of Lita. I think her personal ideology of being one of the innovators of a certain style was a little far fetched when you consider that she spent parts of her career injured or in a managerial role.

Sure, she did do things other women wrestlers couldn't do but in professional wrestling longevity is the key. And Lita didn't have that.
