The Poker Brat

In this month's issue of Inside Edge there is an interview with Phil Hellmuth who reveals that he has matured and that his 'Poker Brat' tag has finally died.

The Poker Brat is dead. Long live the Poker Brat.

It seems that I have spent the whole of my last three games of poker complaining about hands I was beaten with with 'ffs' and 'you called with that?' All in true Hellmuth fashion.

I must have become the figure of hate at my table. And I liked it.

There was one player who went against me in a battle of wits by calling me a bluffer. I responded by telling him if he thought that then put his money where his mouth was. He said that he would when he had a decent hand.

As if by fate - the next hand I was dealt a pair of aces and I riased two times the big blind. He called me and another person, who had called, folded. It was just me and him.

The flop held another ace so I was way ahead with three of a kind. I checked the hand to the player whose nickname was 'Christ'.

He put himself all in with his remaining eight hundred chips and I gleefully typed 'whoops' to him. I then pressed the call button after a short pause.

Our cards were revealed and the message box contained the words 'B A S T A R D.'

The turn card was the fourth ace which ultimately ended his tournament.

Christ had died but the Poker Brat was resurrected.
