Stick And Stoned May Break My Bones

I have been a controversial figure online this weekend. People have been commenting that I must be on a substance or two.

The first individual was playing at Ladbrokes against me and he went all-in after the flop when there was a king and queen on the board and he was holding two pair.

I had paired up eights using the board and when he went all in I thought the bet was too big which set off a warning in my head that he was on the bluff. The reason why I thought this is if I had made a pair with the kings or, dare I say, the queens I would have made bets at the pot to build it up rather than scare the people away.

Anyway. I called his bet as my chip count was higher than his and could afford it. He turned over the KQ and I thought I was beat. Another eight came out for me on the turn which gave me three of a kind and the river card didn't save him.

He announced that I must be stoned to have made that call but he didn't accept my logical excuse for making the bet. He then went and looked at my tournament position on the overall leaderboard and told me he wasn't going to take advice from someone with my record.

Fair enough.

Then I was accused of being on drugs on the message board I am a member of when I claimed that I believe that the Miami Dolphins will beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the opening game of the NFL season. Yes, the Steelers are the current champions but I have had this feeling ever since the fixtures were published.

There is a special bet on Mansion.com that if you bet £580 on the Steelers with a five point handicap and it loses you get a full refund. Of course, if they win you get almost double the money back. I just cannot see Pittsburgh winning and I guess nor can Mansion for offering a bet like this.

The trick I have in mind is to make this bet and then do a £250 on Miami with a different betting firm and then I will have a profit either way.

Yes, I am talking about a big bet here but I am going to be in a position where I have everything to gain and nothing to lose.

Either that or those drugs are kicking in!
