A Site For Sore Eyes

I was pleased to find out that Wrestlemania XXIII will originate from Ford Field in Detroit next year. It will be the first time since 2003 that the event will be held in a stadium rather than in an arena.

I think the Wrestlemania name is too big a commodity for it to be staged in regular venues. Sure, the twentieth show had every right to take place in Madison Square Garden as it was the place where the show was born.

It looks better on the eye with there being eighty to ninety thousand fans attending the event and gives it more of an important feel.

Next year will be the twentieth anniversry of the record setting Wrestlemania III which also took place in Michigan and was headlined by Andre the Giant being bodyslammed by Hulk Hogan in front of 93,173 people.
