Like A Kid

I was counting down the hours until 7:15 this evening in anticipation for the new series of Doctor Who.

Not to watch it though!

Josh absolutely loves it and when he was watching television this morning a commercial appeared advertising the Doctor Who toys. Well, the excitement in his eyes gave me an idea to surprise him with one of the figures tonight at the start of the show.

So I popped in to town and bought the figure and kept it in my bag all day looking forward to see how he would react when I handed it to him at the start of the show.

I like doing things to the book, it would have been just as fun seeing him excited at any other time of the day but I set it in my mindset that 7:15 was the perfect time to hand over the gift.

His mouth dropped to the floor and his eyes popped out when I handed the bag over to him. He didn't even have to guess what was inside as he has probably got me clocked by now!

The reaction is the best thing about gift giving it justifies the thought and timing put in to doing it. Josh's reaction brought me back to times in my childhood when I was surprised in this way and it made me feel good to pass it on to the next generation.

Hopefully in twenty years from now he will look back and think fondly of moments like this and relive them again just like I did today.
