A Good Friday

It has been a good day for gambling.

Firstly, the forecast I did on the 4:25 at Sandown came in. I betted on First Love to win the race and Oracle Des Mattes to finish second.

This evening I decided to take part in the qualifier for the Irish Open and I ended up winning the tournament. Yes, that is two first place finishes in a week.

Play of the day came when I was dealt an Ace of Hearts and Two of Hearts.

There ended up being one other caller and the flop was;

2 of Diamonds, 7 of Diamonds and 8 of Diamonds.

I overlooked the amount of Diamonds on the board thinking the 2 was a Heart (even though I had the 2 of Hearts in my hole cards!). So I thought I would try and bluff him out.

I went all-in and he called. His cards turned over to reveal a Queen of Diamonds and Six of Diamonds.

He had a flush.

But there were two more cards yet to be revealed. I didn't fancy my chances so had given the night up as a lesson to be learnt.

The turn card revealed itself to be an Ace of Spades.

I had a pair agianst the other players flush. I still had no chance.

Then came the river card and that too was beneficial to me. It was an Ace of Diamonds.

I won the hand with a Full House (Aces over Twos).

There was another controversial moment in the game where I was up against the person 2nd in the list so it was a head to head for first place. He was attempting to take my place and I would have ended up losing a lot of chips.

I had a straight and went all-in and he called. The caller ended up losing and I won all his chips. The problem is it made him finish in 7th place and as the first six places were paid places I got a ton of criticism by the other players at the table for beating him like that and keeping the players with the fewer chips still in the game.

Yet, playing the way they wanted me to play isn't going to take me to Dublin.
