Damn it.
You know in the January 1st post, where I predicted things that could happen in 2017? I was 100% sure I had 'Wayne Rooney will leave Manchester United' as one of my spoilers for the year ahead. I had to go and check earlier today.
Alas, I did not.
Apparently, it's looking like Rooney is on his way out of Old Trafford. The Mirror website went quite OTT on the story yesterday evening by reporting that he could be gone by Tuesday. Other outlets are speculating his departure will take place over the summer.
I'm inclined to believe the latter. If he's going at all, that is.
The Chinese league has a transfer window that closes on Tuesday, so it's possible. I'm going to make a guess that it doesn't happen this soon, though.
I know I rag on him now and again, but I can't help but respect what he accomplished at United.
Bloody hell, that's TWO positive posts I've written about the Red Devils in a week...
