The Long Drawn Out Verification Process

When is a valid passport not a valid passport?

If you're a certain company that I have been dealing with for the past week and a bit, you need to have one that isn't expiring soon.

I've been trying to set up a Bitcoin account (long story). To verify my account, I had to send over a passport and other documentation to prove I am who I say I am.

The passport runs out later on this week - I sent the scan of it on the fourth and the company has only just replied to say they need something better due to it almost out of date.

IT'S STILL VALID!!!!

In my opinion, that's a cop-out. I would totally understand if they didn't verify an account that had passed its expiry by at least a day. I cannot understand not verifying a document that is still acceptable if I were to show it anywhere else.

Okay, rant over.

Don't get me started on the absurdity of Bitcoins in general. I'll leave that one for another day.
