Will Michael Sam Be On Raw?

Am I surprised to see World Wrestling Entertainment try and jump aboard the Michael Sam train? Of course not.

For those that have been living under a rock, Michael Sam was the first active American football player to admit to being homosexual. 

The media made a big story out of him coming out as he was, err, coming out of college and into the NFL Draft earlier this year.

Sam was drafted by the St. Louis Rams but did not make the cut. He was released late last week.

WWE decided to invite him to Raw next week in an episode which will go head-to-head with the first Monday Night Football of the new season.

The company was quick to announce that he has been invited rather than guarantee he would be there thus giving both side an out if he isn't there.

Look at it this way - if he manages to make a team or ends up on the Rams' practice squad (not looking likely at the time I'm writing this), it's highly unlikely that he'll be on the show.

If I had to make a bet, I'd place it on 'No'.

Not yet, anyway.

Update - I wrote the above post on Tuesday evening with it set to publish on Thursday. Since that time, Michael Sam has joined the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad. To answer the question - he won't be at Raw.
