Bored & Away

Something dawned on me as I sat watching Home & Away yesterday evening.

I have started to tire of it all over again.

It's the only soap I go out of my way to watch. I think it's because I had liked it when it first aired over here in the late 1980's and I stuck with it through all of the 1990's and into the early 2000's before I gave it up after it moved to Channel 5.

I started following it again about seven or eight years ago but I have recently found it a task to sit through. I tend to want to be doing other things than sitting down watching the show.

I have a good idea why I have become bored with it - they have dumped too many new characters in at the same time. As a viewer, I haven't had time to get used to them before another newcomer has been offloaded onto my screen.

Add in that a number of regulars have either left or are soon to leave, and I have a television programme where a good portion of it is filled with characters I didn't know weeks ago.

I will stick with it, though. I'm sure I will get used to the change. Soon.
