The Draw

I set about planning to publish a post where I would predict how the groups would turn out in Friday's World Cup 2014 draw the other day but - after trying to get my head around the process, and 'Pot X' - I threw my hands up in defeat.

Talking about throwing hands up in defeat, Greg Dyke more or less did the same when England was drawn against Uruguay, Italy and Costa Rica in Brazil.

The FA chairman did a slit-throat signal to indicate the unlikelihood of the team getting out of the group stages.

At least someone is being realistic.

There are far too many superior teams in the competition. It becomes quite monotonous to see the media hype up the team every four years when they have little chance of success.
