Today's Breakfast

My sister and her family have returned from a family holiday in Cornwall and brought home a small box of Kellogg's Froot Loops for me.

The cereal is only available for sale in the UK via specialist shops which deal in imported foods from other countries and - when she saw this on sale in one of these shops - she knew I would have liked it.

Froot Loops are one of the three breakfast cereals I can recall from the six weeks in total that I spent staying with relatives on an American air force base in Germany during the 1980s.

The other two cereals were Lucky Charms and Rocky Road. My sister bought me a large box of the former this past Christmas. As for the latter - I am led to believe that it isn't made anymore. That's a bummer because, out of the three, it was my favourite.

Typical, eh?

I hadn't eaten Froot Loops since 1988 so it was fun having them again this morning. The picture to the left was taken before I decided the bowl was too small. I ended up putting them in a supper bowl.

As soon as I took my first spoonful, memories of those great holidays came flooding back.

There is one thing niggling at me, however.

I don't know if I remember the word 'Froot' being used back then. I've always spelled, or thought of it, as being spelt properly whenever I have reminisced about the product in the past.
