Taking The Stand

I had to meet my former colleague's solicitor today and it is now certain that I am going to court on October 31st.

The law is meant to be balanced and there was something the brief told me today that made me realise what kind of a country we live in.

According to the CPS, my witness statement was enough for the trial and I was not needed in court. The problem with this, however, is that without my account of things the prosecution will have carte blanche bringing in their witnesses and only having two statements from the defence to contest it.

It could be that the solicitor said this to me in order for me to stand up and commit to appearing in court. If that is the case - he did a good job.
