Sod This

One of the important parts of playing poker is how you deal with bad beats. You can very easily catch a loss from the jaws of victory, if you will.

In a cash game I played tonight I was dealt 6 and 9 on the big blind and the flop had another 6 and 9 giving me two pair. I went all-in and someone with a lower chip stack than myself called showing Q 9. He had paired his Queen on the flop but I was still ahead. Until the river, that is.

A nine!

His two pair beat out mine and I was angry that I got robbed on the final card yet again. Then came the surprise in the hand following.

King Kong.

The two kings were there before me and a little trick played up in my mind. I was going to show a little anger from the last hand and make them think I was just throwing my chips away in disgust or rather I was going on tilt.

'Sod This,' I typed into the chat box like a fisherman throwing out his bait. I set the trap and only one person called the raise but it was enough to double up and win back the money that the river had robbed me in an earlier hand.

I proved tonight that the chat box can be used to your advantage at the table. You just have to pick your moment.
