More About The Biggles Post From Saturday

In a follow up to Saturday's post, in which I wrote about the 1986 film Biggles once again airing on British TV after a few years, I thought I'd share something I was finally able to find on Google.

While preparing to write the post, I searched for evidence of the Biggles read along book and cassette I mentioned having back when I was a child. I could not find any photos online anywhere.

Well, hours after the post went live, I decided to give it one last go.

Biggles Books

It was the second image in the search for 'Biggles read along cassette and book'.  Unfortunately, clicking on the link didn't get me anywhere other than the main eBay page. Therefore, the item has likely been sold.

Not that I would have bought it. I am sure I still have the cassette and book somewhere. It would have been cool to find a rip of it on YouTube, however.

That photograph, though. It sure did make some more memories flood back.  One memory actually confirmed something I wrote in Saturday's post.

When I mentioned my mother having bought the book and cassette, I wrote that 'I surmise I could already read back then'. Well, I can confirm that - Yes, I could absolutely read at that point in my life. You know why? Seeing that book and cassette reminded me that my mum gave it to me around the time of my First Holy Communion.

Considering I was one of the children chosen by my teachers to do one of the readings in the mass, I think it's a safe bet to conclude I could read.

As an aside, I've just looked at the movie's release date. It came out on May 23 1986. That mass took place on a Sunday in June. So it all fits.

It looks like the film recorded okay to my cable box. I hope to watch it sometime this week.
