On Friday, Oasis began a reunion tour with the first stop being here in Cardiff. As well as that, Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath had a swansong at Villa Park last night.
I would be a liar if I said I was a huge fan of Oasis or Black Sabbath. However, a lot of their music could be played as the soundtrack of certain parts of my life.
Especially if I were to think back to the mid-90s.
For Black Sabbath - it's 'Paranoid'. I would often hear that song at a bar I worked at. Not the original, though. I would hear it played by live musicians. I loved that song whenever it would play.
As for Oasis - well, there are far too many songs from that period to choose from. Just the other day, I was asked in a YouGov poll what my favourite Oasis song is.
It's always a difficult choice, because I suppose it could depend on the mood I'm in, but nine times out of ten I would go for Live Forever. And that's only because it's the song which introduced me to Oasis.
What a weekend for music. Could you imagine what it would have been like for those who went to both shows? I'm sure there must have been some who did them.
