The Premier League concluded its 2024-25 season yesterday, so you know what that means.
I can finally look over the season handicap results from Leagues 2, 1, the Championship and the Prem. I can point out how each table finished and also show you just how good or bad my bets turned out.
Actually, you can strike one of those. All four of my bets turned out bad!
League 2
As you can see, the season handicap table for League 2 had a dead-heat with Walsall and Bromley each finishing off with ninety-points each. Walsall had finished in fourth place in the real table with seventy-seven points, so their 13 point handicap led them to the 90. Bromley, on the other hand, finished the season in midtable. Their 66 points saw them finish eleventh but, with the handicap of twenty-four, that brought them up to the top in the bookmakers' table.
My punt went on Crewe. They finished in thirteen place in the real table. Their fifteen point handicap being added to the actual sixty-two saw them finish twelfth in the handicap league.
League 1
Birmingham City's 111 points from thirty-four wins, nine draws (and three losses) was more than enough to win the actual League One let alone the season handicap table. Birmingham had a zero handicap going in, so they deserved the W.
My bet had gone to Bolton Wanderers +8. They finished the real league table in eighth position with sixty-eight points. As for the handicap table - they ended up fifteenth.
Championship
I had Middlesbrough +13 for the Championship. They picked up sixty-four points across the season finishing in tenth place. Their seventy-seven points accumulated saw them in the bottom part of the mid-table in the season handicap league.
The winning team in the season handicap table for the Championship was Burnley. They had a +6 advantage and finished with 106 in total. They finished the actual league in second place behind Leeds United on goal difference.
Premier League
The Premier League was won by Liverpool with eighty-four points. Going in, they had a +9 advantage, but it wasn't enough.
Nottingham Forest closed the handicap table with 111 points. That was from the sixty-five real points they accrued along the way to a seventh-place finish. They had been given a forty-six head start ahead of the campaign.
It's another case of back to the drawing board ahead of the release of the 2025-26 season handicap markets. I'll return to this topic nearer to the leagues' restarts in a few month.
