The peppermint-flavoured milkshake is a regular thing on menus in the US, Canada and Ireland during the run up to, and including, St. Patrick's Day. I was well aware of its significance. However, I had never tried one.
Well.. that all changed the other day.
Upon realising the Shamrock Shake was available from my nearest McDonald's restaurant, I changed up all plans I had for Friday evening's meal and ordered a delivery. I didn't want to risk the shakes running out of stock ahead of today.
That's how keen I was tot try one of these milkshakes out.
Initially, I thought the liquid wasn't as green as I had built up in my mind. However, it kind of made sense to have a light-green because the food colouring would have been excessive.
As for the taste itself - well, the peppermint wasn't as strong as I had imagined as well.
I wasn't completely disappointed. I got to try something I had seen talked about for years. I am going to strike it as a 'maybe next time' to see if the next one is more flavourful.
If, of course, there is a next time.
