Each Christmas Eve, whenever I listen to the programme, it feels like I always catch the part - in the 12 hour marathon - where Faith Hill's 'Where Are You Christmas?' plays.
I never hear the song on the radio nowadays. It's always whenever I catch Christmas Across The Lands each Christmas Eve and it takes me back to when The Grinch Stole Christmas was the big festive movie of 2000.
The place where I worked had a merchandising deal which saw the children's meals have soft toys of the movie's characters.
There was one family who were regulars. They had a young daughter who collected the toys from those meals and she was missing one of the items for her collection.
I had served this family for years. They would always ask me how I was doing and would tell me a bit about themselves. They once told me a story about one of their family members recently having been caught having an affair which led to me to express a loud 'wow'.
I wasn't wowing at the story, I did so at the fact they shared it with me!
Considering how 'close' I had become with these people, I took it upon myself to try and get the toy.
It was easy to do so.
One of my best friends had been promoted to become a manager of a store in England. I phoned him up and asked if he had one of those toys. He did. So, within a few days, the toy was in my work locker waiting for the visit of the family.
If memory serves me correctly, it wasn't until after Christmas when I was able to hand the toy over but it was - and still is - one of the best things I ever done at that place.
So, as that song played on Christmas Eve this year, like always - I thought back to that family and wondered what they're up to twenty-four years later. Their little girl could have children of her own by now. And - if that's the case - I hope their toy collection is complete.
