It seems quite eerie that I found myself writing about the latest Beverly Hills Cop movie yesterday mere hours before it was announced that John Ashton - who famously starred in three of the four BHC films - had passed away.
Ashton left us on Thursday night following a brief battle with cancer. He was seventy-six.
A lot of people left posts on TAFKA Twitter yesterday how glad they are that they were able to make another Beverly Hills Cop movie starring Ashton.
As I wrote back in July, I enjoyed seeing Ashton's John Taggart return to the franchise after stepping away for the third movie. He got to do some gun scenes reminiscent of the closing acts of the original movies (it was more like the first film than second because of the setting, if you get what I mean).
I hope Ashton was able to enjoy his return to the role and see the reaction it got over the summer.
To make things even more eerie, I later found out that Kris Kristofferson had died.
My first introduction to Kristofferson was when he starred in Big Top Pee Wee. I thought back to having recorded that movie when it was on one of the Sky channels back in the early 1990s. Coincidentally, that film was recorded on the same VHS cassette as Beverly Hills Cop II, which also featured on either Sky Movies or The Movie Channel back then.
I'll close today's post with the words Judge Reinhold left about his Beverly Hills Cop co-star. I think they were quite moving.
