Just like I wrote the other day, I don't regularly cover politics on this blog. I certainly don't write about foreign politics. However, I felt I had to today.
I woke up to see people on Twitter responding to what was - at the time - called an 'assassination attempt' on the former Japanese Prime Minister - Shinzo Abe.
Hours later, it was revealed that the attempt turned out to be accurate. Abe had passed away from the injuries sustained in the attack.
The video I saw was quite shocking. Especially if I didn't know what I was going to see (I hadn't when I clicked on it). One minute the former PM was standing in front of people delivering a message, the next came what sounded like a mini cannon going off. The camera didn't catch anything else beyond that booming sound.
Anyway, I looked further into it and saw the weapon that was used. I couldn't help but think that it looked like a hand-made gun that was created in a prison movie I watched many years ago. I cannot even recall the film. It could have even been from a television series.
Such a devastating device.
