Glory Day II

On January 21st, I published a post titled Glory Day. It was a look back at the result, and day after, the 2002 WWE Royal Rumble which was won by Triple H.

It was a special moment for me because it was the first time I had ever placed a bet on a professional wrestling match. As I pointed out in the post, it was also my first win gambling on the 'sport'.

To conclude the post, I wrote about how I had visited my uncle to tell him the bet had won. I also recalled how I had joked that I had made a lot of money in tips thanks to the aftershave he and my aunt had given me for Christmas.

I shared that, since he passed away a little over a year from that day, I would use that aftershave a day following big betting wins.

As luck would have it, a little over a week after publishing the post, I found myself splashing myself with the aftershave once again.

I had made some winning bets on the Royal Rumble matches from January 29th when I backed Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar to win the female and male battle royals respectively.

It seemed quite a nice coincidence that I was able to celebrate a win so soon after writing about 2002.

My good luck didn't end there, though.

On the Saturday of the Rumble, I was given two £5 free bets to place on the two NFL Conference Championship games that were to be played the following day.

I chose to place two bet builder wagers. The first - on the AFC Championship game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals  - saw two out of the four selections work out for me.

I needed 100%.

The second also needed four selections to work in my favour. This one focused on the 49ers versus Rams game for the NFC crown.

I got the 100% for that one.

It returned £70. Not bad, eh? Especially seeing as it was a free punt.

I chose not to wear the aftershave for that victory, though. The bottle is running low. I want to keep it from emptying so I can use it for the next big one.

Whenever that may be.
