A week ago, I published a post in which I mentioned that Walkers had new flavours in time for Christmas. I closed it by stating that it would be my mission to seek out the three flavours in order to write about them here.
Well - mission accomplished!
Of the three varieties, the Mince Pies flavour is the one that has obviously intrigued me the most this year. I'm going to leave that one last in this review.
Ultimate Roast Potato
In last week's post, I wrote that I expected the roast potato flavour to be a grander edition of ready salted.
I was right. It is like a glorified ready salted. However, the important question is 'do they taste, or at least remind me, of roast potatoes?' and I have to fairly admit that they do.
Sensational Smoked Pigs In Blankets
I have already tried Walkers' pigs in blankets crisps in the past. When I saw that this year's version are meant to be 'smoked', I expected them to be stronger this time.
Well, they didn't seem it.
Maybe it's me, though. After all, I tried the Notorious B.I.G. Cookout BBQ Sauce Crisps earlier this year and they tasted amazing. They came across like I was eating something that really had been smoking on a barbecue grill.
Walkers had big boots (or should that be B.I.G boots?) to fill in regards to offering a 'smokey' crisp. It didn't come close to the Biggie Smalls crisps.
Now, onto the main event...
Marvellous Mince Pies
Oh. My. Gosh.
These crisps do actually taste like mince pies. They even have an aroma which is reminiscent of the festive treat.
Wow.
The potato aftertaste isn't nice, though.
I don't think I would ever go out of my way to buy them every Christmas, but they are a fun novelty for this year.
