Rating Drink Powders V

Here's the fifth part of the Rating Drink Powders series I've been writing here at Equinoxx.info since May.

I have been sampling, and then ranking, drink mixes from the USA. In this part, I finish off the last five drinks from a batch of fifteen a bought a few months ago.

Drink Powders

Wyler's Island Punch Blue Ocean Breeze
It felt like there wasn't too much flavour to this drink. I was hoping for a blue raspberry taste. Instead, I had a light watermelon sensation even though I don't think there was any watermelon in it!

Watermelon is not my favourite thing. Add on top the fact I didn't find this drink to be strong in flavouring and it's a strong pass for future consideration.

Starburst Cherry
Back in May, the Starburst Blue Raspberry powder won five stars making it the most highly rated drink I've tasted. The flavour has not been beaten as of right now.

Starburst's Pink Strawberry flavour failed to beat its powder sibling (if you can call it that) when I tried it in August, so I was unsure what my reaction to Starburst's cherry flavour. Working in its favour was the fact that cherry has mainly been a well-received taste by this reviewer because it takes me back to a time when I tried Kool-Aid for the first time.

Well...

..Starburst Cherry is BRILLIANT.

It has everything going for it. A strong cherry taste. I might go so far as to say it is better than Cherry Kool-Aid.

Is it better than Starburst's FIVE STAR blue raspberry, though? No, but it's very close.

Rating: **** 3/4

Jolly Rancher Green Apple
Apple Tango is one of my favourite drinks, so - anything with an apple flavour - is going to pique my interest.

This wasn't bad. It was better than average, but that's as far as I am willing to endorse it. Especially after having what could be the second-best flavour in the entire series.

Rating: ***

Welch's Grape
Grape flavoured drinks - as I'm sure I've written in the past - take me back my childhood in a similar way that cherry does.

Seeing as this was a Welch's drink, I had high expectations going in. Unfortunately, it tasted a bit like plastic.

It was underwhelming especially when you consider it's from the Welch's brand.

Rating: **

Wyler's Island Punch Lime Paradise
Wyler's Island Punch powders have been a lot of miss than hit in this series, so I wasn't really sure what to expect when I tried the Lime Paradise flavour.

This was a good flavour in the range of Wyler's Island Punch. Good, not great. Definitely not bad. It had an appealing bitter and sweet taste sensation that reminded me, in ways, of a bottle of Calypso lemonade.

Rating: *** 1/4

Result
Starburst Cherry is the winner of this edition of Rating Drink Powders. Not only did it finish top of the five drinks - it also beat all but one other drink I've sampled over the five editions of this series.
