Every now and again, I am reminded of new footage from my childhood which showed people queuing up outside Russia's first McDonald's restaurant.
I don't think of it all the time. I just find myself remembering it when I see random things that trigger the memory.
The memory was triggered this morning when I read the local paper and saw a photograph of a queue of people waiting outside Cardiff's first Taco Bell restaurant.
According to the article, some people were in line for five hours.
That's commitment.
It wasn't Russia getting its first McDonald's crazy, but it is Wales getting its first Taco Bell crazy.
