I wrote a post on Saturday titled 'One More Game' where I wrote about what was then the upcoming game between Wales and the Republic of Ireland. I made a huge error in it.
I was under the impression that the first two teams in the group won a place in the World Cup. This is not accurate. The top team in all groups win a place while the top eight teams - out of the nine groups - that finished in second has to go on to play a second-placed team in another group next month.
Not that it means much to me now. Wales lost the game yesterday and ended up finishing third in the group.
Ireland will now find themselves playing one of the seven other teams that made it to the qualifiers.
