Adam West Passes Away

The news broke yesterday that Adam West has passed away.

West was famous for playing the role of Batman in the TV series from the 1960s.

I was born in the 1970s, so I missed the series' first run. I may have even missed its first reruns... but, I got there sometime in the early 1980s!

I loved that series.

If you've been following the blog before today, you may have read THIS POST and THIS POST from the spring of 2016.

My nephew and I have been on an 'Old Skool Batman' marathon on the rare occasions that I have to babysit him. We have been watching one episode a day whenever he is down to visit. It has been fun to catch all of the old episodes from the past. It's also interesting to see them with older eyes because some of the in-jokes flew would fly over the head of a child watching the series.

Adam West was great playing Bruce Wayne and Batman. It was a role that he went all-in on You can see that back in the 1960s, but you can also see it when you consider the guy was still making a living from the fame he gained from the show right up to very recently.

Just like when Roger Moore passed a few weeks ago and I wrote that Moore was my James Bond. I may not have seen the first runs of Batman, but Adam West certainly was my Batman as he came along through my television set a few years before the Hollywood blockbusters smashed their way into my life.
