Robert Miles Passes Away

After publishing yesterday's post, I checked in on the news and found out that Robert Miles had passed away.

The first thing I did was head over to YouTube and typed three words into the search bar.

Robert. Miles. Children.

A plethora of versions of Miles' trance hit - Children - came up in the results. I opted for the 'Official Video' and sat back, watched and listened.

The memories flooded back.

This is one of the iconic pieces of music from my lifetime. It came out back in the mid-1990s when I was in my teens, fake ID in hand and going to nightclubs every week.

I loved this tune.

Correction - I still love this tune.

Despite it being one of the soundtracks of my nights out back in the day, it also reminded me of a bunch of us that used to hang out together. This song was on the car's playlist during our misspent youth. If I was randomly asked if I could recall all the songs on that cassette, Children would have been one of - if not the - first titles I would mentioned.

I'm not alone. During my brief trip down Memory Lane yesterday morning, I scrolled through the comments underneath the video. A lot of people were writing about how this piece is part of their life's soundtrack. It's certainly a track on mine.
