Thoughts After Watching The Last Jedi Trailer

I've watched the trailer for the upcoming Star Wars film a few times since it was released on Friday.

My intial thoughts aren't that positive, if I'm to be honest.

Even though I liked The Force Awakens, there were parts within it that seemed to be a rehash of A New Hope.

This new film - The Last Jedi - based on the two minutes that I have seen appear to be a recycling of The Empire Strikes Back.

Rey is going to be trained by Luke in a remote land just like Luke was trained by Yoda on a remote planet in the second film of the original trilogy.

I guess we'll then find out later in the story that Rey is related in some way to Kylo Ren (cousins or siblings) and she'll be the person who leads him back to the good side at the conclusion of this trilogy.

We'll have a few years to wait and see if I'm right.

Now, onto a positive thought - Empire is my favourite Star Wars movies because of its tone. I also have a bit of a soft spot for the dark movie in the prequel trilogy - Revenge of the Sith - so I might end up enjoying The Last Jedi a lot more than I am expecting right now.

Episode VII: The Last Jedi will be released in December.
