More Thoughts On The Passing Of The Ultimate Warrior

It's just a few days following the news that The Ultimate Warrior passed away and I'm still sort of in shock.

At the risk of sounding cruel - I'm not THAT surprised he has died. After all, we know he was a huge, and the pun is definitely intended, part of the steroid era when the WWF was at the height of one its boom periods.

What is shocking is how it all went down just days after returning to the company after years of being at war with World Wrestling Entertainment. Getting to be honoured at the Hall of Fame ceremony, being applauded at WrestleMania XXX and then addressing the fans on Monday Night Raw.

All that after a sixteen year absence and then, within twenty-four hours, collapsing and dying.

It's a real-life movie script if ever I saw one.

The news has been intense. There was a two page story on it in The Sun yesterday. The piece chronicled other names from the business that didn't reach old age.

I don't even know if this will be the last time I cover the Ultimate Warrior story on here. If it is, I think the final exclamation point should be to look at what he said in his final public address. It's eerie  looking back.

"Every man's heart one day beats its final beat, his lungs breath their final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them bleed deeper than something that is larger than life, than his essence, his spirit will be immortalized. By the storytellers, by the loyalty, of those who honour him and make what that man did live forever. You, you, you, you, you are the legend-makers of Ultimate Warrior... I am Ultimate Warrior, you are the Ultimate Warrior fans, and the spirit of the Ultimate Warrior will run forever!"
