City Versus City

Cardiff City's first ever home game in the Premier League is today and the Bluebirds have quite the test ahead of them.

The 2011/12 Premier League winners - Manchester City

I am anxiously looking forward to watching the game because it will bring back memories of the last time the two teams met.

The date was 29tth January 1994 and Cardiff had been drawn to play Manchester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup. Back then, Cardiff were in the Second Division (now Division 1) and the Citizens were plying their trade in the Premier League.

It was a David versus Goliath match-up and Cardiff's catapult was Nathan Blake.

The striker scored the only goal in the game. This put Cardiff into the fifth round where they were to play either Luton Town or Newcastle United. Luton won the replay against the Magpies, but that's a story for another day.

Ironically, even with both teams now in the same league, this is another David versus Goliath storyline as Manchester City have one of the richest owners in football.

And his team are one of the most costliest, too.

I'm hoping for a carapult or two today. Please.
