I first watched the 21 Jump Street episode - Christmas in Saigon - on the last Sunday before Christmas of 1989.
The episode focused on Harry Ioki as it was revealed that he was a refugee from Vietnam who had taken an assumed name to live in the United States.
I re-watched it yesterday. It was the second time I had seen it since '89.
To be honest, it isn't one of my favourite episodes. However, I think it did a superb job of building a back story to Ioki who hadn't had much of a key role up until that point in the programme.
The most interesting trivia notes about this episode is that Dustin Nguyen, who played Ioki, is a real-life Vietnam refugee so a good portion of the story was based on what happened to Nguyen.
Another thing I recall from 1989 was the end credits featured Holly Robinson singing Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. This is absent from the DVD release, I suppose due to copyright and royalty issues.
