I had a punt on the 'who killed Derek Branning?' betting markets so made sure to tune in to Christmas Day's edition of Eastenders to see if any of my predictions paid off.
It came down to the final portion of the show where Jack, Joey and Max Branning were forcing Derek out of the house. I had one pound on all three characters so was expecting one of them to end up being the culprit.
It was yours truly betting so there was always going to be some controversy, right?
Instead of Derek being done away with the old fashioned Eastenders way, he succumbed to an apparent heart attack.
Bet365 refunded the bet. I had a few poinds lined up with Ladbrokes but they've informed me that they are awaiting the Boxing Day episode to find out if his death was due to poisoning.
One Twitter user was hoping to be paid out on a 'Derek Branning to kill Derek Branning' bet. I'm guessing he doesn't work in insurance because the last I looked having a heart attack is not grounds for a suicide ruling.
