I bought the Racing & Football Outlook Football Guide 2012-13 the other day.
It's the first time I've splashed out on the newspaper's annual book but thought I would give it a go and get myself a head-start on the season bet that I do each year.
The book has a list of all the teams in the domestic leagues as well as some of the well-known European leagues and has the stats on the past six meetings between the teams. For example, if Gillingham are playing at home against Southend you can see that - in the last six years of this fixture being played - the home team have won once, lost once and drawn twice. Two of these match-ups went over 2.5 goals, two didn't. Both teams scored in two of these games and a clean sheet was attained twice, as well.
The information should come in handy once the season kicks off.
There are also a few articles with suggested bets for the year ahead.
Without giving out any spoilers, there's one suggestion that looks very unlikely. Other than that, I think it's a good handbook which - like I noted earlier - will assist punters once the season commences.
