Thoughts On Fraud Squad

For the past two Friday evenings, I had been watching ITV's documentary Fraud Squad which highlighted the police's war with off-shore scams.

I found the series interesting yet very sad.

The victims who were conned by these gangs are often retired or middle-aged people with money to invest so they are the easy target. The shame of it all is they'll probably never be in a position to earn or inherit that kind of money again.

It made me sick to think that the scammers were living their lives off those people. Even when the gang members were cornered and arrested, it felt bittersweet because it was pretty much evident that the victims were only going to get back small amounts of what was taken from them.

Still - at least the team were brought to justice. This prevents them from working other people into their con. I guess that's a good thing.
