It's the start of the new Premier League season today and, as per usual, the talk is going to be about which team will win and which three will end up playing Championship football in 2012.
I have a feeling that Newcastle United are candidates to be in the bottom three come May. They are priced at 6/1 which is a very tempting price.
On one hand, it's hard for me to bet against my favourite Premier League team but on the other it seems like such an obvious bet to make.
The club I fell in love with back in my youth is no more.
They had ambition and played a great style of football. Sure, the team didn't get anywhere (okay, two FA Cup final losses) but at least they bought players and did their hardest to be contenders.
The current team and its owners are the complete opposite. The ambition is gone and there is money being made but not spent.
There is trouble ahead - you'll see in May.
