More On Gonzalez

Whenever I write about a wrestler passing away, I always mention about how I was affected by them in some way,. shape or form.

I forgot to do it in yesterday's post about Giant Gonzalez.

The one thing I can remember about him is when he was first coming in to the World Wrestling Federation.

We had seen him in WCW when he wrestled as 'El Gigante' and all of us at school didn't pronounce the 'G' as a 'H' which was the Latino way of doing it. We would say it as we saw it 'Ell Ji Gan Tay'.

Anyway, when he had left our screens, I read in Wrestling Eye magazine that he was set to join the WWF and I had a bet with a kid in my class that he was going to debut at the Royal Rumble.

I didn't know when he was coming in but the Royal Rumble was my assumption.

And so he did.

I also told the same boy that The Narcissist - being unveiled at the event - was going to be another WCW departee, Lex Luger.

I cleaned up on that night, huh?

It's a shame my pick on Bob Backlund winning the Rumble didn't come in!
