The Aston Villa Situation

Superstition?

Pah.

Just the other day, I wrote on here how I was superstitious about posting what selections I have entered into my season football bet due to the fact that I have been unlucky when announcing them in the past.

Then - days after the revelation that I wasn't going to actually reveal anything - Aston Villa and Martin O'Neill parted company.

'You haven't bet on Aston Villa, have you?' I can hear you ask.

Yes, I bloody well have!

I picked them to win on a handicap with an additional twenty-five points.

The reason why I selected them instead of Manchester United or Chelsea this time around was because I have a feeling Manchester City will be up there somewhere so I went in a different route.

I could have went with my hunch and picked City and forgot about Villa and the tasty 18/1 on offer but the temptation got the better of me.

It was a risky bet to begin with but losing Martin O'Neill days after the bet 'placement is annoying.

It could turn out well, however. Villa could end up appointing someone good enough to win them enough games which could cover me on the handicap table.

Could.
