An Upset On The Horizon?

My gut instinct is kicking in once again and telling me that Brock Lesnar will lose against Shane Carwin in tonight's UFC event (in a few hours after this blog is posted).

Lesnar defends the UFC world heavyweight championship for the first time since July 11th 2009.

He hasn't fought since that time due to contracting mononucleosis which resulted in him being unable to train for a lengthy period of time.

He is meant to have been healed now and has been back in training for months in preparation for tonight's fight but I have a feeling we're in for an upset.

I'm basing this on the fact that he hasn't fought in nearly a year and is coming off a serious illness which could have forced him to retire.

With that said, he could also be more up for the fight and the time off may work in his favour.

Either way, it will be an interesting bout but I'm sticking with Carwin.

Sunday Update - Wow, how close was I? Lesnar was beaten to a pulp in the first round and took some incredible punishment but managed to hold on to the buzzer (or bell or whatever you want to call it). Brock ended up winning by tapping out Carwin in the second round and has now been given the moniker 'The Baddest Man on the Planet'. Sometimes, it's good to be wrong!
