When I heard that WWE were cancelling the ECW brand, I wasn't looking forward to the show which is set to replace it.
The reason why I wasn't keen on NXT was because I thought it was going to be just like ECW but with a different name.
On the final episode of ECW last night, they revealed what the concept of NXT will be about.
And I am quite excited.
It will feature a bunch of the WWE's developmental wrestlers in a reality-based show.
Each wrestler will have their own mentor from the active WWE roster and, I suppose, they'll be eliminated weekly in order to crown an overall winner.
This isn't the first time WWE has attempted a reality show.
In the early 2000's they produced Tough Enough which was - as I used to explain it back then - 'like Popstars but with wrestlers instead of singers'.
It must also be noted that Triple H was one of the people who opposed Tough Enough because he felt it exposed the business.
He is even more powerful now so it is questionable how long the NXT concept will last if he feels that it too is a poor expose of pro wrestling.
