It has surprised me to see a fair few wrestling fans across the Internet jumping for joy at the imminent return of Bret 'Hitman' Hart to WWE television.
Don't get me wrong - it is a surprise.
The shock I have is targeted towards those who think Hart is going to wrestle a regular match or matches.
There was a poster on a message board I am a member of who asked whether the return of Bret Hart in 2009 can be compared to Bob Backlund's return of 1992.
There is no similarity. I pointed out that Backlund returned to wrestle.
Hart cannot wrestle.
After suffering a major stroke in 2002, he would be putting his life in jeopardy if he were to take bumps inside the ring.
The only possible scenario, and the one that I suggested in my post last week, would be for Bret to have a bout against Vince McMahon at WrestleMania XXVI under street fight rules.
This way they can have a feud and have enough smoke and mirrors to cover up for the lack of wrestling and the bumps that would be expected in a match.
It's a shame that some people are holding out hope that he does come back to wrestle. It's just not going to happen the way they want it.
Time will prove me right.
