Rules And Exceptions

I was surprised with yesterday's Portsmouth versus Manchester United result.

You read that right.

My shock was because I had a feeling the result would have been a draw or - with a little bit of luck - a Portsmouth win.

Those who know me well will know why I thought Portsmouth would have had a decent game.

It was Avram Grant's first game as manager of the side and I like to see how teams perform in games where a new coach has taken over.

Most of the time, a team in that scenario gets a result.

There are a few exceptions to the rule. In this case, it was Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs.

Good job I didn't bet on it!
