Captain Lou Albano

One of wrestlings most celebrated managers, Captain Lou Albano, died yesterday at the age of seventy-six.

As Albano had left the WWF by the time I first got into American wrestling, I became aware of him through the Hulk Hogan cartoon where he was one of the babyface characters in the series.

Then, in 1994, Albano returned to the WWF managing The Headshrinkers to the World tag team championship. This team was one of the many he led to the gold. In this worked business, his success at turning tag teams into champions gave him the moniker of the 'Guiding Light'.

Captain Lou was also known outside of professional wrestling due to the advent of the music video and computer games.

He appeared in a number of Cyndi Lauper videos on MTV during the 80s.

He even secured the role of Mario on the Super Mario Bros. Super Show during the time when Nintendo was becoming popular with children across the World.
