I've finally seen this year's WWE Hall of Fame ceremony.
It wasn't good. The entire thing seemed rushed.
Don't get me wrong - previous years have felt rushed as well. This time, however, you could tell each person was given a specific amount of time to say what they needed to say and then exit stage left.
This timing thing took away my enjoyment of the occasion.
I blame The Rock.
Last year - while inducting his father and grandfather - he took over an hour and a half and made the show run long. He even ate into Ric Flair's speech. Flair said a lot but he could have said a lot more and I would have liked to have listened to him more than to Dwayne Johnson.
Don't get me wrong on this either - I like The Rock, I just don't think he should have spent that time talking when he wasn't even being inducted.
I've always said the WWE should do the Hall of Fame on the Friday night and then they have all of Saturday to edit it and air it on television that night. Usually, the editing is being done while the show is being recorded as the it airs on US TV on a delay.
It's the last chance of recognition some of these wrestlers will ever get. I think they should have as much time as they need to thank the people that helped them in their career. Is that too much to ask?
