Waking up yesterday morning to the announcement that Alan Shearer was the interim Newcastle United manager came as a shock to me.
And I'll tell you why.
On Tuesday night, I was playing a trivia game online and one of the questions was 'Who is the book, Messiah of Tyneside based on?' In a panic - the first name I thought of was Alan Shearer so I typed his name out. Realising my mistake, I entered 'Kevin Keegan' into the quiz.
So, Shearer was on my mind as I went to bed.
A teacher of mine once gave a good analogy about dreams and said that the brain leaves post-it notes as you go through the day and these notes are then the foundation for some of your dreams.
Therefore, the words 'aland shearer' - as I typoed the name in a panic - must have been written on my mental post-it note.
I dreamt that I had the signature of Alan Shearer in my collection of autographs. I don't remember everything about the dream, all I do know is the signature ended up being someone else's as the picture of Shearer was the cover of a birthday card and I had put it in the album by mistake.
A weird dream for sure.
I wouldn't have remembered it had I not gone onto the news website as soon as I woke. The front page image of Shearer reminded me of the dream.
A spooky coincidence.
This isn't as spooky as the time I dreamt that Ruud Gullit was manager of Newcastle one year before he was actually given the job. I have a witness to that one and we both still laugh at my football-psychic technique to this day.
