I had two Asian handicaps in my most recent weekend bet and feel angry with myself for putting them in.
Despite all this anger, the confusion is the worst feeling.
The reason why I feel like this is because I put them in believing I knew how they worked.
I assumed a -3/4 handicap meant the team would start with a three and a quarter goal handicap so one goal would eliminate the deficit.
On Bet365, where I had done Asian handicaps before, they do half ball handicaps. For instance a -0.5 would mean that the team could win by one goal for the bet to win, a -1.5 bet would call for at least a two goal victory.
They also have the trickier double spread handicaps that I always shied away from. These are more or less what the bet I did last weekend ended up being.
The three quarter rule is different. I needed the team to win by more than two goals for a 100% victory. In the rule I was used to it would have been written out as a '-0.5, -1' handicap.
The Manchester United game ended up being a loser as neither team ended up scoring. The Spurs game saw them win by a goal so half of the stake won and the other half became void (I think).
This is the most confusing post I have made. I don't even know if I have made any sense and, to be honest, I have given up trying to!
Let's just put it like this, the Spurs game won and lost for me. When I tally up the wins and losses for last week in this weekend's picks post I will count this game as winner because, for every 3p I put on the match's outcome, I got 4p back.
Now, I'm done with this topic. Finally.
